Sibuyao Highlands in Torrijos, Marinduque

Rising gently along the national highway that links Sibuyao, Nangka, and Maranlig is a breathtaking ridge nearly 525 meters above sea level—a place locals proudly call the Sibuyao Highlands. Here, the world opens up in all directions: a 360-degree panorama of Marinduque’s eastern coastline, the rugged Central Marinduque mountain range, and even the distant outline of the Balagbag mountains to the southwest. With every turn, the landscape feels like a postcard brought to life.

Early morning trekkers often find themselves walking through rolling grasslands wrapped in clouds, where the cool air brushes the skin and sunlight spills across the hills in soft gold. By late afternoon, the highlands glow with amber hues—perfect for photos, quiet moments, and the thrill of standing high above the world. It’s easy to see why travelers stop here for snapshots and drone shots; the ridgeline is nature’s own viewing deck.

But Sibuyao Highlands is more than its views. Thanks to its cool climate, the area has become a thriving home for organic vegetable and fruit farms. Lettuce, broccoli, beans, cucumbers, cabbage, and even strawberries flourish in these chilly elevations. With training and support from the Provincial Agriculture Office, local farmers have mastered cold-weather crops—transforming the highlands into a surprising agricultural gem. Today, tourists come not only for the scenery but also to witness strawberry plots and mountain gardens thriving in the misty air.

Whether you’re trekking at dawn, lounging under the afternoon sky, or exploring farms that paint the hillside with life, Sibuyao Highlands offers an experience that feels both refreshing and otherworldly. Here, Marinduque meets the clouds—cool, calm, and endlessly beautiful.
