Rising from the deep blue waters off southern Marinduque, Bellarocca Island Resort—set on the picturesque Elephant Island—was once the province’s most iconic luxury escape. Though now temporarily closed, its Santorini-inspired architecture, whitewashed villas, and sweeping cliffside views continue to captivate travelers who remember its glory days.
Bellarocca, surrounded by rugged cliffs and a half-kilometer stretch of white sand and crushed coral, offered the perfect blend of elegance and adventure. From the island, guests enjoyed breathtaking panoramas of Mt. Malindig’s southern slopes and the vast expanse of the Tablas Strait and Sibuyan Sea. The resort featured 69 serene Mediterranean-style rooms, a nine-hole golf course, and a full suite of water activities—from scuba diving and kayaking to sailing and windsurfing. Its wellness-centered spa, committed to eco-conscious practices, made Bellarocca not just a getaway, but a sanctuary.
Even today, the island’s silhouette remains a favorite sight for travelers passing through Barangay Tungib–Lipata, where visitors often stop to take photos with Bellarocca gracing the horizon. Though its doors are temporarily closed, the island’s allure endures—its white structures glowing against sea and sky, a reminder of the luxury and tranquility that once awaited on Marinduque’s own slice of paradise.
