Perched near the boundary of Brgy. Ino in Mogpog, the Balanacan View Deck offers visitors a breathtaking 270-degree panorama of northwestern Marinduque. Once a simple single-storey galvanized iron structure, it has been rebuilt into a two-storey concrete deck, providing a perfect vantage point for sightseeing and reflection.
Overlooking the view deck is Bacud Hill, a historic site that once served as an iron ore mining port from the pre-war years up to the 1950s. Today, a concrete road leads visitors to the hill’s unfinished structures, where an open roof deck allows for sweeping views of the surrounding landscapes and coastline.
The site also carries a deeper historical significance. Plans are underway to establish a World War II Memorial here to commemorate the bombing of Balanacan, honoring both the victors and the vanquished of that pivotal battle. With its blend of natural beauty and historical resonance, Balanacan View Deck and Bacud Hill invite travelers to experience both Marinduque’s scenic charm and its storied past.
