Every January 17, the town of Buenavista bursts into lively color and rhythm as it celebrates the Maalindog–Tubaan Festival—a young but spirited tradition born in Barangay Bagacay and embraced by the entire community. Established in 2019, this festival pays homage to two pillars of local culture: the legendary beauty of Mt. Malindig and the age-old craft of producing tuba, the town’s beloved coconut wine.
During the festivities, residents parade through the streets in imaginative, home-made costumes fashioned from coconut tree parts—an ode to the coconut industry that sustains many families in the area. Street dancing competitions bring the celebration to life, with performers moving to upbeat rhythms that echo Buenavista’s pride in its heritage.
At its heart, the Maalindog–Tubaan Festival is a joyful tribute to the land and its people—a celebration of Mt. Malindig’s grandeur, the resilience of coconut farmers, and the rich traditions that continue to shape the town’s identity.
